Two women standing behind a table at an outdoor market stall, smiling at the camera. The table displays various handmade herbal products, candles, and a framed informational sign. A large, hand-painted cloth sign on the front reads 'Midwifery Transcends Borders' with a colorful drawing of a fetus, plants, and celestial symbols. The women are under a pink canopy, with trees and buildings in the background.

Meet Your Midwife Team

Our Values

At Manos Sagradas, we honor birth as a sacred journey for the entire family. We prioritize shared decision-making, empowering education, and preventative care, creating a nurturing space where your voice and choices are deeply respected.

While doctors say they “deliver” babies, midwives say we “catch” babies, recognizing that it is the mother, not the care provider, who does the delivering. This is a core part of our philosophy at Manos Sagradas Midwifery. You are at the center of your pregnancy and your birth, not a passive side character. Whenever possible, we take a hands-off, noninterventive approach, supporting your body’s natural process and empowering you throughout your journey.

Blair has been a dedicated midwife for seven years. She graduated from the Maternidad La Luz Midwifery School and holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Northwestern University, where she specialized in the anthropology of childbirth and motherhood.

Blair brings extensive experience with complicated vaginal births. She previously worked with a home birth practice in Los Angeles specializing in breech births, twin births, and vaginal births after cesarean sections. Internationally, she has served as a midwife on a vaginal breech birth team at a hospital in India, as a midwife mentor at a public maternity hospital in Cameroon, and as a reproductive health provider at a migrant women’s health center in northern Morocco.

Having attended hundreds of births and trained numerous students, Blair now serves as the Co-Academic Director of the Maternidad La Luz Midwifery Immersion Program and co-directs the Humanized Birth Initiative in Juárez, Mexico.

Katie Mayeux

Katie is a skilled midwifery apprentice, folk herbalist, and internationally recognized yoga teacher with nearly two decades of experience in women’s wellness work. She began her midwifery training in a small village in Guatemala, apprenticing with a traditional midwife and ceremonial elder, where she learned holistic birth care grounded in herbal medicine, nutrition, and spiritual support. She subsequently graduated from the School of the Sacred Wild’s yearlong herbalism apprenticeship and has more recently gained clinical midwifery experience as an advanced student through the Maternidad La Luz Midwifery Immersion Program, during which she worked at a high-volume birth center.

Katie spent fifteen years as a yoga teacher, which gave her deep insight into the body, breath, and the power of movement. She now uses that training to support pregnant families, helping them find comfort, strength, and alignment throughout the childbearing year. She teaches a prenatal yoga class in El Paso and is a Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner.

MANOS SAGRADAS

What’s In a Name

Manos Sagradas means “Sacred Hands” in Spanish, a name that reflects the wisdom and discernment at the heart of our midwifery care. We believe that knowing when not to use our hands is just as important as knowing when and how to use them. When all is well with mother and baby, we sit on our hands and allow the birthing family to lead the way. When support is needed, we are there with skilled, steady, and wise hands, offering exactly what the moment requires. Our name honors the art of midwifery: holding space with reverence, practicing watchful waiting, and stepping in with skill when the moment calls.
